Obituary of Michael Wichinsky

Michael "Mickey" Wichinsky, age 90, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013. Mickey was born November 28, 1922 in Middletown, NY to the late Jacob and the late Ida (Ehre) Wichinsky. He graduated Hurleyville NY High School as Valedictorian and then attended University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, prior to serving in the Army Air Corps. Mickey had an illustrious career in the gaming industry. He was former part owner and casino executive of the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, the first Southern Nevada distributor for Bally Manufacturing Corporation, Owner/President of Games of Nevada, Owner/President of Gamemasters, and Owner/President of Advanced Gaming Technologies, Inc. With Bally, he introducing the first electromechanical slot machine to the Nevada casino industry and revolutionized the gaming industry with his introduction of the "hopper" unit and the Flip-It Game. Mickey is survived by his wife Zola Wichinsky of Las Vegas NV; son Glenn Wichinsky of Boca Raton FL; grandchildren Robyn Hoffman of Las Vegas, Laura Wichinsky of Austin TX, Jennifer Buss of Los Angeles CA, David Wichinsky of Boca Raton, and Dawn Wichinsky of New York NY; and Great Grandchildren, Nephews and Nieces. He is predeceased by his children Steven Wichinsky (1995) and Claudia Wichinsky (2011), and grandson Keith Wichinsky (2013). A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, February 25, 2013 at Palm Mortuary & Cemetery, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131.
