Obituary of Ray Richard Welch
Ray Richard Welch, 83, of Henderson, NV died 01/24/2013. He was born 11/12/1929 in Santa Cruz, CA, to the late Clarence and Emma (Weckessar) Welch. He married Evelyn Welch, August 13, 1978.
Proceeded in death by: his parents; wife Evelyn Welch (Wilson); sons Philip and Randy Welch; Brothers Roy and James Welch; and sister Dorothy Rudin.
He is survived by daughters Debbie (Shane) Aust of Henderson, of NV, Christine (George) Tafoya of Denver, CO, Raelene Welch-Bond, and sons Kenneth (Lori) Welch of Sacramento, CA, David DeMell of TX; and James DeMell of SD. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 3/20/1951 to 5/31/1953. DAV life member, and Purple Heart recipient. Ray worked as a sales manager for many years. Ray was a "soul mate" to his wife, as they were passionate about doing everything together. Ray participated in and enjoyed many activities in his lifetime including: Boy Scouts (leader), Square Dancing, raising farm animals, gardening, woodworking, crafts, fishing and traveling. Rays legacy will be that he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Cremation- Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, Las Vegas, NV
Interment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis South Dakota, on July 30th at 11am where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.
