Obituary of Jorge De La C Garcia

Jorge De La C Garcia, age 59, a 25 year resident of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012. George was born May 15, 1953 in Cuba to the late Jorge E. and the late Aida (Hernandez) Garcia. Thanks to an unselfish act by his mother, George was sent to the United States when he was 10 years old, shortly after Castro came into power. He moved to and lived in Long Beach CA during his formative years. George was a gifted musician and earned a BS in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California. He had a love for children and music and worked as a piano teacher since the age of 16, developing many strong relationships with his students and their families. Jorge impacted many lives through his holistic approach to education wherby he instilled discipline and professionalism in his students and assisted the families through life's challenges. George had a deep love for his mother and moved to Miami to live with her when she was finally able to emigrate from Cuba. He was with her until her death, and then moved to Las Vegas. Jorge was a 25 year resident of Las Vegas by way of Miami, FL. He is survived by his aunt Sylvia Hernandez of Miami and cousin Donato Hernandez of Las Vegas. Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, 4400 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach, CA. .
