Obituary of Joyce Ransbarger Starr

Joyce Allene Ransbarger Starr passed away at the age of 72 years old in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Joyce was born August 10, 1950, to Willis D. and Leona B. Ransbarger in Hemet California. She graduated from Oroville High School, where she participated as a trombonist in the Band and as the Oroville High School Mascot. After graduation, Joyce continued to Point Loma Nazarene College. She was granted the Top Student Dale Carnegie Award. On December 16, 1969, Joyce married the love of her life Royce L. Starr in Oroville California. Joyce and Royce spent 53 loving years together.

Joyce’s career started at Bruce Church (2 years) before moving to McCormick Schilling where she spent over 20 years. She served as the Board Chair for the McCormick Schilling Multi-Management Board. She also spent her time working for North Monterey County School District (4 years), Temple Inland (1 year), and Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (1 year).

Joyce had a variety of hobbies including water skiing, camping, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, gardening, and walking on the beach collecting sea shells. She was also a dedicated, life long, active member of the Church of Nazarene. She was also a church worship leader and choir member.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband Royce L. Starr. As well as her children, daughter Lynna D. Duron (Jason), son Ryan G. Starr (Lenna), daughter Lisa D. Starr (significant other Jimmy), grandson Nicholas “Nick” G. Duron (significant other Jenna), grandson Tyler G. Starr (significant other Celeste), granddaughter Kaela D. Starr (significant other Jordan), great granddaughter Paisley K. Parker, grandson Kyle Bowen, brother George (Ron) Ransbarger, brother-in-law Todd L. Starr (Karen), sister-in-law Nancy K. Parker (Larry), and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Willis D. and Leona B. Ransbarger, sister Janet R. Sturgeon, and in-laws Morris G. and Fern I. Starr.

Services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, 10:00 AM, at The Crossing on Windmill in Las Vegas, Nevada. Reception to follow immediately with location being announced at the service. Ashes are to be scattered by the family at a later date. Services in care of Kraft Sussman Funeral and Cremation Services.
