Obituary of Peter Lipman

Peter Michael Lipman, 85, of Las Vegas, Nevada, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 21, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, after a lengthy illness. Pete was born on May 5, 1936 in Albany, New York. His parents were Julius and Edna Lipman. After Pete graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1954, he pursued a degree in Accounting at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the Army and stationed in Germany where he served his two years. When he returned to the states, he resumed his studies at Emory University earning his Juris Doctorate in 1963. After graduation, Pete worked in several jobs including accounting, law, and construction for over 30 years. A notable position he held was when he was hired to create the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board. That position was a challenge because the board had to be created from the ground up. He served in that role for several years until he returned to law and worked his remaining years in his own law practice. In 1960, he met Elaine in Lakeland, Florida. She came to be the love of his life and they were married September 6, 1961 and remained married until his death. Pete and Elaine had two daughters, Miriam and Deborah. Pete retired in 1992 and he and Elaine relocated to Las Vegas in 1994. Being an avid poker player, he even spent a few years as a poker dealer which he enjoyed. He and Elaine spent the remainder of his years travelling extensively, fishing, and playing poker! He is survived by his wife, Elaine, daughters Miriam (Don) and Deborah (Wendell), grandsons Joshua and Aaron, granddaughter Ashley, and sister Joan. A memorial service will be held at Kraft Sussman Funeral Home, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 2014, Las Vegas, Nevada 89147 on Thursday , April 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.
