Finding out my bubbie had passed as been one of the hardest things to comprehend. Even though bubbie lived across the country, I always knew she was there for me and I could call her anytime and talk about anything. She did nothing but spoil me, and love me so much. I will miss coming to her house every summer and spending every moment with her. We would watch judge Judy, Ellen, and for years she’d let me sleep in her bed with her and papa. That was until I was kick papa and bubbie in my sleep so I was booted to the floor. She would sing “you are my sunshine” and it was one of my favorite things. She will be very missed but never forgotten. I love you bubbie

My sincerest condolences to the entire Nelson family. I met Joyce as a young adult and did a lot of running around together before we got married. Our favorite was going to a late night bar and having a drink and a piece of apple pie with a slice of cheese on it. I have wonderful memories of the times we spent together. In fact, I introduced Joyce and Elliot to each other. May you rest in peace, Joyce, and may your memory be a blessing for everyone who knew and loved you. Audrey Grant Kahn

This is such sad news. The Nelson family was my family. Joyce had a very positive influence on life. She was not only a neighbor but a BBG advisor and a friend. I spent endless hours in the kitchen in oak park and Southfield drinking cup after cup of coffee. I always knew her arms were open and welcoming. I spent numerous holidays with the Nelson family. The wonderful memories will always be with me in my thoughts and in my heart. You were loved by all.
