Obituary of Sheila M Strusser

It is with sadness (but also relief) that we announce the passing of Sheila Strusser. Our wonderful Mother, Wife, Grandmother, and Aunt has reunited with her beloved Husband Marvin, her partner of 68 years. She put up a tremendous fight against a merciless disease while still maintaining her independence, dignity and amazing attitude. It was a peaceful transition with her Children, Alyne and Alan, by her side. Sheila entered the world in the borough of New York City. Growing up with a younger sister, Ellie, and brother, Freddie, it gave her early practice with her Motherhood skills, which she shared with everyone she came in contact with. During her bachelorette weekend on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, she met her future partner and soulmate. Needless to say, her upcoming wedding was off and a new adventure began. After a year of romantic letter exchanges, they eventually married, abandoned NY, and headed West. In 1957, they would begin their lives together in Las Vegas. Since both of them were born with an artistic eye, they opened an interior design business in the Commercial Center that would eventually move to the Boulevard Mall, later expanding to the Meadows Mall. She was not only an incredible designer in her own right, but she was also the catalyst that kept the whole inspiration going. She was a force in both managing the business, as well as tending to the needs of her Husband and her Children. An overachiever to all in her life. Diagnosed with Dementia, Sheila continued to live a vibrant and accomplished life. Her dedication to finding a cure continues beyond her life, hoping to play a part in aiding the elimination of this devastating affliction. She was passionate about her beliefs and priorities toward Family and Friends. She was always a shoulder to lean on with a no nonsense perspective to confide in. She is remembered by her brother, Fred Rosenzweig; children, Alyne and Alan; her grandchildren, Matthew, Sage and Stella; her nephew, Michael Mitrani; and all the others that considered her a member of their Family. Her fearless spirit will be missed, and will persevere in our countless memories. Love you more . . .
