His funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 7260 W. Sahara Avenue at 10 am on Monday, April 12th. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Ashley Simpson, Gretchen Mersch, Cullen Mersch, Taylor Mersch, Jonathan Mersch, Leah Simpson, Derek Simpson, and Keauna Martinez; and one great-grandchild, Isabel Grace Mersch.

Lee was born in Masonville, Iowa on September 2, 1933 to Leo Mersch and Margaret McGraw. On June 14, 1958, Lee was united in marriage to Juanita Bea Mersch at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Juanita; his parents; brother Dem Mersch and sister Vicki Krause; his grandson Sean Mersch; son-in-law Paul Martinez; and many other good souls. Lee was a Korean War and Atomic Testing veteran. Dad had a good life, he loved Jesus, dancing, hunting/fishing, and his family. If you would like to do something in his memory, take your wife/mother dancing, talk to a kid about fishing, or visit someone in a physical rehabilitation center. He’d like any of those kindnesses performed in his memory.
