Obituary of Robert Stuart Witt

Robert Stuart Witt, a man of great character and dignity, passed away in Las Vegas on Thursday after complications from heart failure. He was 83 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Witt, 76. Robert was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1938 to Harry and Betty Witt. He joined the Army National Guard in 1959 and served for three years, including at Fort Dix, before getting honorably discharged in 1962. He spent the next few decades as a respected CPA in New York, and went on to found his own practice, Richards, Witt & Charles, in 1979. Even after retirement in the late 2000s, Robert continued to help friends, family, and clients with tax preparation. He married his wife and the love of his life, Roberta, in May 1961. Known as "Bob and Bobbie," the two of them spent their years traveling to places like Iceland and Alaska, collecting Native American art, and raising their two children and their niece. They retired out to Las Vegas in 2010, where they spent their time making new friends in their community, enjoying a night out at casinos, or playing bingo with their grandchildren. They also continued to travel, sometimes driving for hours to get ice cream in another state. He leaves behind his two children, Jodi Velocci and Andrew Witt, their respective spouses, two grandchildren, Carli and Kayla, his niece Alyssa Chapman, along with many cousins and friends.
