Obituary of Antonieta Tad-y Sombito

Antonieta Tad-y Sombito, 92, of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at her home in Las Vegas. Antonieta was born April 17, 1928 in the Philippines to the late Felix V Tad-y and the late Purificacion G Ramos. She was the seventh of nine children. Atonieta attended Negros Occidental High School, La Consolacion College and Philippines Women's College, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She chose not to teach in a school and instead to help her husband in his business and raise their only child, Marilyn. Although she only had one child, she acted as the second mother to many of her nieces and nephews and even their children. Antonieta had a kind, loving and generous heart, never turning away from those who asked for her help and support. She also had a strong personality, her siblings and their children often deferred to her decisions and wishes, calling her "The Five Star General." Antonieta loved her grandchildren dearly and helped raise them with Marilyn and Jose Rafael, both of whom worked full time. John, Joy, JR and James were very close to their "Lola." She belonged to Christ the King Catholic Community, where she is loved by her co-parishioners, calling her "Nanay" (Mother), "Mom", and "Mommy". She will surely be missed by so many. Antonieta is survived by her only child Marilyn Sombito-Jusayan; son-in-law Jose Rafael Jusayan, both of Las Vegas; and grandchildren John Ryan Jusayan of Reno NV, Joy Rhea Jusayan-Unser and her husband Brian Unser of Milwaukee WI, Jose Rafael Jusayan, Jr. and his wife Jennifer Rapalo of Las Vegas, and James Royd Jusayan of Las Vegas. She is predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Ben F Sombito. Services will be announced at a later date. Contributions in Antonieta's memory may be directed to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S University Center Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89119.
