Obituary of Oliver Ray Turner

Oliver "Ray" Turner, 79, Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, from Covid-19 complications. Ray was born in Girard, Kansas, on December 13, 1940, to Travis and Josie Turner. Ray graduated from Girard High School in 1958. He was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service for 20 years and a HVAC instructor for Franklin Technical Center in Joplin, MO. After retiring, he continued to work in the education field as a substitute teacher for 10 years with the Seneca School District in Seneca, MO. Ray was an avid sports fan and loved animals, raising Corgis and horses. Ray is survived by his 4 daughters; Kathy McBride and her husband Kevin, Shawnee, KS, Stacey Turner and her husband Peter Sessions, Culver City, CA, Rachelle Turner, Las Vegas, NV, and Shauna Turner and her husband Timothy Beck, Las Vegas, NV, 11 grandchildren; Madison Peak, Bailey Kyle and her husband Brady, Hunter Peak, Mitchell McBride, Aidan Turner Sessions, Micah TUrner Sessions, Amelia Bizjak, Grace Holloway, Eric Holloway, Lincoln Beck, Kellan Beck and 1 great granddaughter, Birkey Kyle. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Knoll, and brothers Ron Turner, Don Turner, and Tim Turner. A celebration of Ray's life will be held at a later date with full military honors.
