Obituary of Myron Herbert Greenstein

Myron "Mike" Herbert Greenstein, age 85, of Las Vegas, died Friday, August 17, 2012. Mike was born September 30, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Henry J and the late Evelyn (Herzog) Greenstein. He attended City College of NY and was drafted to play with the Dodgers just as WWII broke out. He enlisted in the Army as a paratrooper and then joined the Air Force. He was a pilot, flew with the Tuskegee Airmen, and rose to the rank of Major, serving during WWII, Korea and Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star. Mike loved his family and flying. He is survived by his wife Claire; children Evelyn Penman, Ruth Vanwinkle, Judith Winstral and Lisa Horowitz (Steve Baker); grandchildren Josha Hunt Winstral, Niko (Matt) Harrington, Scott (Sophia) Horowitz, April Horowitz, Benjamin Horowitz, Dawn Flinn and Evan Flinn; great grandchildren Miles and Daisy Harrington; sisters Mimi Greenstein and Phyllis (Irving) Katz; and nephew Paul (Daylin) Schiffman. The funeral will be held at noon on Tuesday, August 21 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV.
