Obituary of Glenn Franklin Watkins

Glenn Franklin Watkins, age 76, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012. He was born May 2, 1936 in Rivesville WV to the late Charles Brooks and the late Nancy Ann (Higginbotham) Watkins. Glenn served in the Army from 1953 to 1957. He worked as a sales manager and retired from JC Penney and then Auto Zone, living in Virginia, Tennessee and South Carolina, prior to coming to Las Vegas. Glenn enjoyed light construction and was known to many as "The Answer Man", a helpful person to know, especially when he was working at Lowe's. Glenn is survived by his wife of 26 years, Barbara Watkins, children Michael (Christie) Watkins of Gaithersburg MD, David Watkins of Charlottesville VA, Dawn Watkins of Memphis TN, Jennifer Stubbs of Lexington SC and Robert (Christina) Stubbs of Goosecreek SC; grandchildren Amanda and Christopher Watkins of Charlottesville, VA and siblings Charles (Helen) Watkins of Greenwood SC, Barbara Bradley of Rivesville WV, Margaret Riley of Clarksburg WV, William (Lou) Watkins of Rivesille WV and Roger (Louise) Watkins of Rivesville WV. Glenn enjoyed a life event celebration in Las Vegas with his family on July 4. Viewing will be at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service held at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 17th at Carpenter And Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, WV. Burial will follow at Monumental Cemetery, in Barracksville WV. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to West Virginia Rescue Ministries Inc., 107 Jefferson Street, Fairmont, WV 26554.
