Obituary of Guadalupe Hall

Guadalupe was born in Mexico City in 1929, her name was Olga then. She was run over by a bus at the age of 5 and it looked very grim. Her mother prayed to the Virgin of Guadalupe that if she saved her daughter she would henceforth be known as Guadalupe. And so it was. Her devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe was a main focus her entire life. It was not an easy life; mostly a life of hospitals, obstacles and grief. She persevered with her faith. Her mother gave her a framed picture of the Virgin in 1952. It always hung next to her bed. It was her strength. She moved to the United States when she was 27, she never wanted to be here, but she made the most of it. Disabled as she was, Guadalupe was a very hard worker. She had her beloved son Renan at age 29, a single mother in times that single mother mothers were very frowned upon. She was strict and she was a loving mother, making sure her son had every advantage possible, regardless of the times or her condition. From poverty, she made sure that nothing was ever missing. Rena knew at age 3 that he would be a pilot. She went without so that Renan could live his dream. He is a Captain now and he took care of his mother when she became ill with Alzheimer's ("her German boyfriend that would come visiting", she would say when she would become confused). She had a daughter Sofia and beloved grandchildren Teresa, Jason and Nicole. She had four beautiful great-grandchildren. Guadalupe was a very proud of her family; which she was always told she would never have because of her disability. She had lifelong friends. Two in particular that she loved very much; one stuck with her until the very end; until her last moment on earth. She was more of a sister that ever a sister was. She was a fighter and a very stubborn woman. Her family loved her very much. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista, Las Vegas, NV 89128.
