Obituary of Suzan Faye McFarland

Suzan McFarland, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011. Suzan was born on February 15, 1949 in Tuscon, Arizona to William "Fred" and Nelda McFarland. While raising her four children, Suzan received bachelor degrees in both elementary education and early childhood from Prescott College as well as a master's degree in special education from Northern Arizona University. She began her career as a special education teacher in Prescott, Arizona. Later, Suzan moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her firstborn grandchildren. While in Las Vegas, Suzan taught elementary school for the past 13 years. As an educator, Suzan was able to touch the lives of hundreds of children. She was beloved by her students, and was both passionate and compassionate when it came to educating the next generation. Suzan was the proud mother of four children: Mike (Mary) Crabtree of Mission Viejo; Melody (David) Ward of Flagstaff, Arizona; Justin Crabtree of Las Vegas; and Kristen (Jason) Bray, of Las Vegas. She was also the very proud and doting Grandmother to 9 grandchildren; Zachary, Raegan, Tyler, Joel, Seth, Siena, Lark, Addison, and Brook. Suzan was the oldest of five and is survived by her siblings Fred McFarland, Ginger McFarland, and Glena Dohnagy. She was preceded by her parents and her youngest brother, Scott McFarland. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, #104 followed by a graveside service at Bunkers Memory Garden Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain. Contributions in Suzan's memory may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
