Obituary of Virginia Marie Parme

Virginia Marie "Babe" (Leahy) Parme, age 91, of Las Vegas, NV, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at home. Marie was born May 8, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA. She married Paul James Parme in 1952. Marie went to Beauty School and helped support the Leahy family as a "Hair Twister". After she had children she was a devoted full-time homemaker and Mom. Marie is survived by one daughter, Marie Veronica (Steve) Lodesky of Las Vegas, NV, and one son, Paul John Parme, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one sister, Betty Koch of Canonsburg, PA; a niece, Julienne Koch of Canonsburg, PA; and 2 nephews: William Mark Koch of Pittsburgh, PA, and Frank Koch of Jacksonville, FL. She was predeceased by husband, Paul James Parme, and brother, John Leahy. Much of her life was spent in Pittsburgh, PA. Although, after she married Paul in 1952, through his Naval career they lived in San Diego, CA, Okinawa, Japan, Sanford, FL, Hershey, PA, and then back to Pittsburgh. From 1978 to 1995, she lived in Ormond Beach, FL. Following this, Marie moved to Winter Haven, FL, Tucson, AZ, and finally Las Vegas, NV, in January of 2009. Marie was very good natured and well liked by many. She enjoyed regular food: hot dogs, apple pie and strawberry ice cream. She was very creative though she didn't have one particular hobby. Marie loved fancy shoes, big earrings, reading murder mysteries and, in later years, people watching. Marie loved being a wife and mother. Marie was a member of the Band Boosters while her son, Paul was in high school. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association for many years, even after her husband's passing.
