Obituary of Iris Suzanne Dubose

Iris Suzanne DuBose, 82, Las Vegas, Nevada was born on November 8, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Iris was the second child and the only girl born to Thelma Harris Fitzgerald and Robert Fitzgerald. Her paternal grandparents were Sadie and Benjamin Fitzgerald and her maternal grandparents were Fred Harris and Parkee Trent Harris, descendants of Peter Trent from Scotland and England. Her older brother, Fredrick Fitzgerald is deceased. Iris is survived by her husband Colonel Grover A. DuBose (ret.) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Birmingham, Alabama. She was the devoted mother to two daughters Rene' Emily DuBose-Kelly of New Rochelle, New York and Suzanne DuBose-Petutschnig of Las Vegas and New Zealand, Steven DuBose of Ohio, her brother Benjamin Fitzgerald of Atlantic City, her sister-in-law and husband Gwen and Jack Rogers of Chicago, Illinois, and two granddaughters, Megan DuBose and Leressa Suber and three great grandchildren. On June 4th, 1950 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Iris Fitzgerald married her college sweetheart Grover A. DuBose. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage since meeting at West Virginia State College in 1947. Iris accomplished many things in her life but her greatest joy was her husband, children and living around the world. Graduate of West Virginia State College, BS in Biology Active member of AKA Sorority Jr. and Sr. High School science and chemistry teacher in Taiwan, U.S., Holland and Germany 25 year member of the LINKS, national women's service organization where she served as their United Nations NGO representative for over 7 years Altar Guild member of Christ Church in Rye, NY for 20 years Volunteer at United Hospital in Port Chester, NY for 12 years. Attended the first World Wide Women's leadership conference in Nairobi, Kenya 1985 and the Decade of the Women Conference in 1995 in Beijing
