Obituary of Curt Lewis Bennion

Curt Lewis Bennion, 51, passed away at Centennial Hills Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada, on 19 June 2011 after battling pulmonary fibrosis. Curt was born 20 August 1959 to Merrill and Erlene Bennion in Salt Lake City, Utah the third of five children. Curt moved with his family to Logan, UT at the age of seven. Curt was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a full-time mission in Rochester, NY/Hartford, CT. Curt was an Eagle Scout and leader of scouting. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman and especially loved the mountains. Dutch oven cooking with his "secret" family recipes was a favorite. He derived great joy from sharing his many talents with others. Curt was an accomplished symphonic percussionist who excelled at the marimba. He sang in NUCS in Logan, Ut and worked with the Las Vegas Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus. Curt is survived by his eternal companion, Brooke Bennion, Las Vegas, NV his two children Timothy (Valerie) Bennion, Taylorsville, UT and Steven Bennion, USMC, his three stepchildren Darby, Joshua and Shannon Dilleshaw, Las Vegas, NV, brothers Dale (Kathy) Bennion, Brigham City, UT, Randy (Julie) Bennion, No. Logan, UT, sister, Lyn (Roger) Manning of Smithfield, UT, (currently serving in the Lima, Peru, South Mission) sister in law, Louann (Tom) Blayden, Hyde Park, UT. Curt was preceded in death by his parents and older brother David. Curt was a loving husband, father and friend. He devoted his life to serving others and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, 22 June 2011 at the Los Prados Ward chapel, 5160 Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, 21 June 2011, at the Kraft-Sussman Funeral Home, 3975 S. Durango #104, Las Vegas, NV. A graveside service and interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, Friday 24 June 2011.
