Obituary of Stanley Marcus

Stanley Marcus, age 90, passed away after several bouts with pneumonia on June 2nd, 2011 at Mountainview Hospital in Las Vegas. Stanley, the youngest of two sons was born in Brooklyn, NY, December 10, 1920 to parents Simon Marcus and Rose Rudnitsky. In 2006, Stanley moved from New York to be near his only daughter, Debra Marcus Doodkevitch in Las Vegas, Nevada and took up residence at Atria Seville, an assisted living facility. From 1939 - 1946, Stanley served in the Army stateside and abroad during both peace and war as an officer in the Signal Corp keeping military time for the entire South Pacific and setting up communications. After the war, Stanley went to the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business where he earned a BA in accounting and eventually went into private practice as a CPA in Spring Valley NY.Stanley met and married Miriam Kobrin (daughter of Meyer Kobrin and Sarah Pearson) of the Bronx in 1948 and moved with her to Rockland County in 1958 with their only daughter Debra, born in 1953.Miriam passed away in 1997 following a series of mini strokes. Stanley is survived by his daughter and two grandchildren, Ariela and Michael, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a beloved end of life partner, Miss Phyllis Bergsman, to whom he proposed a year and a half ago. Stanley was an avid reader, loved folk dancing, did crossword puzzles in pen and will be most remembered for loving friends and family unconditionally. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hadassah Hospital. Burial is set for Tuesday, June 7th at 1:20pm at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV
