Obituary of Valerie L Stukes

Valerie L. Stukes, of Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Valerie was born and raised by James K. Harris Sr. and Mary Alice Harris in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was blessed to be part of a large, family with eight sisters and three brothers: Constance, James Jr., Charles, Darlene, Alicia, Donna, Regina, Millicent, Kevin, Lisa and Dana. She married the love of her life, Louis Wayne Stukes Sr. of Philadelphia on March 10, 1962. They had two children: Louis Wayne Stukes Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Tanya Stukes of Los Angeles, California. Valerie attended Dobbins Vocational and Technical School in Philadelphia. She loved working with people and found her career in retail sales. Valerie was the proudest grandmother of four: Louis Wayne Stukes III, Shanae Stukes, Demi Henriquez and Drew Henriquez and was affectionately known to Demi and Drew as "MomMom". MomMom's smile and laugh filled up any room-- and although her heart was ailing, she had the biggest, warmest heart ever known. Valerie is survived by her loving husband, Louis W. Stukes Sr., son Louis Stukes, Jr., daughter Tanya Stukes, son-in-law Ian-Max Henriquez, grandson Louis Wayne Stukes III, granddaughters Shanae Stukes, Demi Henriquez and Drew Henriquez, sister Constance Woods, brother Charles Harris, sister Darlene Childs, brother Kevin Harris, sisters Lisa Drumgoole and Dana Edwards, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Her beloved in-laws are: Will Stukes, Denia Stukes-Hightower, Ada Adderley and Gregory Stukes. She is pre-deceased by parents James and Mary Harris, brother James K. Harris Jr., and sisters Alicia Buckson, Donna Harris, Regina Higgins and Millicent Killcrest. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 4 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S.
