Obituary of Jeffrey Marc Levine

Jeffrey Marc Levine was born on August 22nd, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY. From that day on, for 62 years until his death on May 23rd, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV, Jeff spread light, warmth, and love wherever he went. He was born to Aaron and Beverly Levine and grew up with an education both on the streets of Brooklyn as well as in the classrooms of PS 222. From a young age, Jeff had to learn to fight for himself and the two people he loved the most in the world, his younger siblings Beth and Michael. The other thing he carried with him all of his life and that he shared with Beth and Michael was a deep and devoted love of the New York Yankees. If you wanted to know Thurman Munson's batting average in 1976 or Mariano Rivera's saves total in 2009, Jeff was your guy. After the family moved to Coral Springs, Florida when Jeff was 16, his love for the Yankees continued to blossom, attending every Spring Training he could at nearby Ft. Lauderdale Stadium and crossing paths with Yankees greats. Jeff's signature huge and ecstatic smile was probably never bigger then when he, his brother Michael, and his cousin Barbara got to be there in person at old Yankee Stadium when they won the 1977 and 1978 World Series. Later in life, he and Michael would watch every Yankee game they could on TV, calling Barbara at least ten times during each game to discuss the latest developments and what they thought would happen next. His all-time favorite Yankees were Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, and Derek Jeter. When he wasn't watching a Yankee game, you could find him rooting for the Miami Dolphins. While in Florida, Jeff worked for his father's auto parts distribution business JBM Levine Incorporated, named after Jeff and his siblings. He also helped manage the family's small trio of harness race horses at Pompano Park racetrack: Lobro Kerry, Chekavar, and Jeff's favorite, Treboh Derrick. Jeff also loved to bet on the horse races and would always bet on the favorite. Jeff lived in Pompano Beach, Florida with his brother Michael until 2012, when they moved to Lakeview Terrace assisted living facility in Boulder City, NV to be closer to his sister Beth. He loved his community at Lakeview Terrace and was elected to be the president of the Residents Association. A man of many interests, after spending hours talking to you about the Yankees prospects this year, he could turn on a dime to engage you in an informed and enlightening discussion of politics and his love of Bernie Sanders, whom he volunteered for in 2020. Jeff had many other lifelong loves and passions including gangster movies, cop shows, soap operas, Italian food (specifically baked ziti and lasagna), animals of every kind, and Barry Manilow, who he went to see live with Beth and Michael many times. Jeff is predeceased by his parents Beverly and Aaron, his Great Aunt Sarah Feinstein, and his Grandma Florence Kazdon. Jeff is survived by his siblings Beth Asaf and Michael Levine, his brother-in-law Ami Asaf, his niece and nephew Rose and Max Asaf, their dog Brownie Asaf (whom he loved and who loved him very much), his favorite cousin Barbara Feinstein, his aunt & uncle Roz and Scott Pelcyger, and his cousins Sharon and Tony Genchi, Abby Berry, and Ben Pelcyger. He was also incredibly grateful for the support, care and love provided to him by the staff of Lakeview Terrace and his home health nurses. Though he faced many difficult challenges, he lived his life to the fullest and was a fighter through and through with a pure and joyous soul, full of love, compassion, and acceptance. He will be deeply missed by all and will be held within our hearts forever. Contributions can be made in his name to Jewish Family Service Agency Las Vegas here: www.jfsalv.org/makeagift. Services were held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Kraft-Sussman Funeral & Cremation Services.
