Obituary of George Lester Beasley

Beasley, George L. July 8th, 1936 – April 7th, 2020, formerly of Fairbury, Nebraska, was born to Charles and Mary (Schrader) Beasley. He graduated from Fairbury High School, worked on the Rock Island Railroad and served in the U.S. Army including duty in Korea. He married Eileen A. Murphy in 1959 and they lived in Fairbury until 1980 when they purchased Harry's Tavern in Valparaiso, Nebraska. In 1990 they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where they enjoyed their retirement years.

 

 

 

George was a proud member for more than fifty years of the Knights of Columbus, Fairbury Elks and Optimist Clubs. He treasured his vast collection of everything train related. He derived immense pleasure from traveling with Eileen, visiting every railroad depot on their route. He spoke often of "three World Fairs and a Diller picnic." He most loved spending time with family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

 

 

Survivors include his wife, Eileen, four children: George (Polly), Marcia (Brian), Jerry (Janet), and Michele (Judson), twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, brother Walter (Gloria), sister Phyllis, numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack.

 

 

 

Services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 4500 Duxhall Drive, Lincoln, NE 68516; Rosary at 10:00am, Mass at 10:30am, with a reception to follow.
