Obituary of Marcia Sue Edberg

Marcia Sue Edberg, 83, of Henderson, Nevada, passed away from natural causes on April 7, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 1, 1937 to Shirley & Irv Ostroy. Marcia moved with her family to Tucson, Arizona at the age of 9. She lived in Tucson for 45 years, then wanting a new adventure, moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and was a resident there for 18 years. She graduated from Tucson High School, the Class of 1955, and began her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona until a handsome young suitor (Mort Edberg) lured her away to get married and start a family. She was a devoted mother and a great one-of-a-kind friend to all who knew her. She was never without her camera, unofficially chronicling every social gathering. Marcia would develop the photographs and pass them out to all who were captured on film. After raising her three children, Marcia worked in several upscale department stores as a successful sales associate over many years. She had a knack for sales, always going the extra mile to help customers. She was known for her warm and friendly customer service. Marcia was an avid reader with many interests and loved going to the movies, playing Pan and Canasta, spending time with friends and traveling to Israel every year to visit her brother & sister-in-law, Pesach & Esther, and their 5 children. Although her quality of life was affected due to a stroke she suffered in Florida 9 years ago, Marcia moved to Henderson, NV and lived a full life there. She is survived by her children: Beth Edberg (Fiona), Janet Wellish (Kent), and Steven Edberg (Amy). She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Hanna, Isaac and Eve Wellish and Wolf and Ivy Edberg. Marcia is remembered by her grandchildren as a thoughtful, humorous, fierce, and strong-minded grandmother. She leaves behind her beloved brother, Pesach, and sister-in-law, Esther of Jerusalem, Israel. A big heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sunrise of Henderson & Brighton Hospice for their compassionate and respectful care. Contributions in Marcia's memory may be made to The Jewish National Fund and the American Diabetes Association. Marcia was interred at the Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson.
