Obituary of Melodia Aldea Mata

Melodia Mata known as "Melody or Ludy" passed away on March 27, 2020, after a long battle of health complications. She died at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Melody was born on October 27, 1957 at Grace Park Rizal, Philippines. She was the second of four siblings. She migrated to San Francisco, California in 1970. There she met Cipriano "Ric" Mata. They married in 1998 and has two children. In 2005 they relocated to Las Vegas. She worked as an Admin. Assist/ Claims Processor for AAA than retired in 2017. She graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco where she excelled in academics, sports, music and dance, karate-judo, and other activities. While in high school she was selected for the "Project Close Up", a program of youth involvement in government, which took her to Washington D.C. and met the President of the United States and other White House officials. There they discussed important problems prevailing in the country at that time. She was active in community, social, education and popular undertakings. She was one of the organizers of the Fil-Am Youth Council Summer Job Program, a member of the Emergency School Aid Act (ESAA) Advisory Council and a graduate of the Fil-am Girl Scout Council of S.F. She attended City College of San Francisco and studied Accounting. Thereafter, she worked for Bank of America and S.F. Police Dept. Melody loved to read. She would sit down for hours reading mysteries and romance novels; she liked karaoke and traveling, especially to the Philippines. She enjoyed entertaining and hosting. As a host, she always made sure you enjoyed yourself with plenty of food and drinks. She was a generous person and would not hesitate to help a needed friend and/or family. Most importantly, she was a fighter. She endured as long as she could, but alas she succumbed to god's call. She predeceased her parents Cesar and Lilian Aldea, and brother Dwight Aldea. Survived by her husband Cipriano Mata; two children Ian Mata and Rheabeth (Johnny) Meier; a grandson Isaac Mata; siblings Divina (Roberto) Hernandez, and Cesar (Regina) Aldea, Jr. A private family visitation and funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 31 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, Las Vegas, NV.
