Obituary of Lilian Siriban Aldea

Lilian Siriban Aldea passed away peacefully on March 9, 2020. She was 91 years old. Lilian was born on March 6, 1929 in Lallo Cagayan, Philippines. She was the oldest of seven siblings. Lilian met her future husband Cesar Aldea in the Philippines while attending college. Looking for a better opportunity and to escape the political climate, they migrated to San Francisco, California in 1970. From there, they helped bring many family members to America. Lilian was a school teacher throughout her entire career both in the Philippines and in America. She continued her education, attended San Franciso State University and received a Master's Degree in Education. Lilian was one of the first Filipino bi-lingual teachers who taught K-3rd graders in California. She participated in the big teacher strike of 1979 that included many states throughout the country. Lilian was a member of the Filipino American Community of S.F (Fil-Am) during the 70's and 80's. She was active in politics and took pride in helping elect government officials. Her passion were her students. She was a devout Catholic, sold Avon products on the side, loved ballroom dancing, singing, hosting family parties, was a good story teller and enjoyed watching game shows and soap operas. In 2014, she relocated to Las Vegas, NV and made it her permanent home. Lilian predeceased by her husband Cesar Aldea Sr., and son Dwight Aldea. Survived by children: Melodia (Cipriano) Mata, Divina (Roberto) Hernandez, Cesar Aldea Jr, (Regina) and grandchildren: Aaron and Kayla; Step-grandchildren: Ian, Rheabeth, Myra, and Sabrina. Siblings are: Eleanor (Verbo) Cabus, Sonia (Romie) Abella, Remee (Carlito) Fantone, and deceased Constancia Abad, Renato Siriban and Fernando Siriban. Services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3036 Alta Drive, Las Vegas NV, with a visitation at 11:00 AM, followed by a mass at 11:30 AM. Lilian will be cremated and her remains will be placed with her husband Cesar Aldea Sr. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma CA at a date to be announced in the future.
