Obituary of Martha Bayer

Martha Bayer, age 98, passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, January 25, 2020. She spent her last days in the loving company of her immediate family. She was born on September 22, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents Meyer and Lena Deutch. Martha grew up with her siblings Ruth, Harriet, William and Rita. She worked as a secretary in Manhattan when she met the love of her life, Milton. Her and Milt were married on February 3, 1946. They moved to Los Angeles together and built a home in Beverlywood. There they raised their two daughters, Harriet and Donna, and lived for over 50 years. Many fond memories were made in that home with family and friends. Martha was a kind hearted philanthropist who devoted her energy to support the Sunair Home for Asthmatic Children. She enjoyed keeping her beautiful home, maintaining a lovely rose garden, and bringing joy to her family. Eating out at her favorite restaurants with her close family, at the perfect table, was a true pleasure for her even in her last years. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Milton in 1997. He remained sorely missed and in her heart until her passing. She is survived by her daughters Donna Reiner and Harriet Smylie, her grandchildren Lora (and Michael) Roscoe and Jason (and Malia) Smylie, her great grandchildren Mason and Elias Roscoe, and Moxley, Huxley and Daxley Smylie, and other family and friends. Family, friends, and others are invited to funeral services at Hillside Memorial Park 6001 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90045 on January 29, 2020 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hadassah in Martha's name are suggested.
