Obituary of Marek Goworek

Marek Goworek, 72, of Las Vegas, passed away Friday, October 11, 2019. Marek was born August 10, 1947 in Warsaw to the late Edward and the late Elzbleta Goworek. He lived in Moscow Russia from ages three through seven and then returned to Lublin Poland. He tragically lost both parents at an early age and was raised by his step-father. Marek earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in architecture, but his love was jewelry making, which he learned from his step-father, who had a very successful jewelry store in Lublin. He served as a Captain in the Polish Special Forces. As he became a successful businessman, he was kicked out of Poland by the Communists. Marek moved to the United States in 1987 for a better life. In New York City, Marek was a jack of all trades, and could fix anything. To earn a living, he worked three jobs at a time; as a handyman, in custodial services for Lufthansa airlines, and painted houses. A few years later, he met his soon to be wife, who organized a social club for new immigrants. After 9/11 they moved to Las Vegas. Within a week, he began working for Mordecai at The Jewelers. He was considered to be the "best jeweler in Las Vegas." He truly enjoyed life in Las Vegas, especially his daily breakfasts in his home garden. Marek is survived by his wife Jolanta Soysal; daughter Anna (Jason Gauvin) Soysal; grandson Oscar Soysal; and dogs Coco and Louie. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147 . .
