Obituary of John Edward Carroll

John Edward Carroll, Jr.”Jack,” age 86, of Henderson, Nevada died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at home in Henderson. Jack was born July 31, 1932 in Columbus, OH. He is the son of the late John E, Carroll Sr. and the late Gladys Herring Carroll. He graduated in 1950 from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington DC. Jack attended the University of Maryland and received an AA degree and in 1956 received a BA degree in Government from George Washington University. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps and was especially proud of his service at Arlington National Cemetery as a bugler for interment services. Jack also served as a drill instructor at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California.  He was an Assistant Vice President for Bell Atlantic Telephone Company for 30 years and retired in 1988. He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mildred Wiebe Carroll. He is survived by son: John M. Carroll and Susan Carroll of Lorain, Ohio; daughter: Jean M. Carroll and Diana Blais of Lewes, Delaware; son: Robert E. Carroll, and Debbie Carroll of Henderson, Nevada; Brother: James E. Carroll and Iris Carroll of Boynton Beach, Florida; Sister in Law: Marcia Jones of Greensboro, North Carolina; Granddaughters:  Jillian Carroll and Mark Whittimore of Merriam, Kansas; Lauren and Steve Lynch of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Lindsay and Antonio Walker of Sparks, Nevada; Leah Carroll and Ivan Mondragon of Henderson, Nevada.  Great Grandchildren:  Isabel, Liam and Wyatt Walker of Sparks, Nevada; Ashlynn, Brooklynn and Madilynn Lynch of Cheyenne Wyoming; and Alejandro and Leonardo Mondragon of Henderson, Nevada. Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church 10265 Bermuda Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89183.  Inurnment and military graveside service will be in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium for John and Mildred pending final arrangements with the cemetery in early 2020.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or Nathan Adelson Hospice.
