Obituary of Joseph John Pierce

Joseph John Pierce, Jr., age 75, of Las Vegas, died Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Joseph was born July 27, 1944 in Newark, NJ. He is the son of the late Joseph John Sr. and the late Rita (Enright) Pierce. He married the love of his life, Nina Frances (Alfano) Pierce, on June 30, 1968 in the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Joe valiantly served his country in the Marine Corps from 1961-1965 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He later served in the Newark Fire Department during the height of the Newark Riots and later rose in the ranks to become the youngest Deputy Chief. He was a modest man who never liked too much attention. He loved going out to dinner with his wife and this was one of his biggest joys. He always admired the servers at all the restaurants they frequented. He was a big man, but his heart was even bigger. He is survived by his wife: Nina Frances Pierce ; his son, Ray Pierce ; his sister, Mary O'Connell; his nephew and godson, Jack O'Connell Jr.; his nephew Joseph O'Connell; and his grandchildren, Joseph Pierce, Aiden Pierce, and Pierce Cabrera. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Trina Rae Pierce. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 11 am until the time of the Life Celebration at 12 pm at Kraft-Sussman Funeral and Cremation Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, following which, Mr. Pierce will be entombed at 2 pm at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. Joe will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
