Mark Ellis

Obituary of Mark Ellis

Mark Ellis passed away on May 6, 2019. He was born June 6, 1945 (one year to the day of D-Day) in Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina where his father was based during WWII, before being sent to the Pacific Theatre. When his father came back to the states after the war ended, the entire family moved north to Brooklyn, New York, where Mark spent his childhood. He attended elementary school and high school in Brooklyn. He then attended Brooklyn College where he graduated in June 1966. Following college, Mark then attended medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon graduation in June 1970, he did his residency in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon completing his residency, Mark enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served one year in Greenland and the second year at Nellis Air Force Base. We would mention that Mark served his two years as a Captain, which he was very proud of. He loved his time in the military, he loved this Country, and he loved President Trump. After completing his service in the military, he elected to remain in Las Vegas, because he had grown to love the area. Mark began practicing medicine in Las Vegas in mid-1973 and continued practicing there until his passing. Mark is survived by his brother, Jonathan, his nieces Naomi, Deborah, and Aviva, his step-son Bradley, his 30-year life partner Lolita Machado, and her daughter Jay Cruz, and her grandson Robert Machado, who Mark helped raise since he was a baby. Mark was loved and respected by all who knew him well. He will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace. Graveside service is at 1pm May 8, 2019 at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 7251 West Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129.
