Obituary of Norma Maria Menendez

Norma M. Menendez, affectionately known as “Mimi”, 93, died peacefully with her children by her side on March 20, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends.

Norma was born in Havana, Cuba on June 7, 1925 to Marcos & Amelia (De Caso) Romero.  She immigrated to the United States (Miami, FL) in August of 1960 to escape the political threats of Fidel Castro. Norma and Manuel relocated their family to Muscatine, Iowa in 1963 where they raised their children and remained until their retirement.

Norma was an extraordinary mother.  She was blessed with wonderful health until her final days.  We deeply love her and miss her greatly.  She will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, compassion, generosity and strong faith which helped her endure the most difficult times in her life. Norma had an amazing ability of making people feel special.

Mimi was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Menendez, loving mother of Ana (Mike) McHale, Margaret (Dave) Taft and Manny (Cathy) Menendez; and the very proud grandmother of Conner, Parker, Ryan, Aidan, Mia, Manny, and Claire.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel L Menendez on June 11, 2015.

Her services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. and her funeral mass at 11:30 a.m., both at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive Las Vegas, NV 89128.
