Obituary of Rhonda Victoria Clary

Rhonda Clary, née Isabel Victoria Gandara, age 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2019, surrounded by her family, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital San Martín, in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia. She was born May 5, 1946, in Stockton, California and raised in Sutter Creek, California by parents Benito Vasquez Gandara, a native of Spain, and Julia Ann Fontes Gandara, of the Salinan tribe of the central California coast. Isabel was a 1964 graduate of Amador High School. She then headed off on her life adventures starting in Baja México, coming back to California and eventually moving on to the Pacific Northwest where her two kids were born and raised. She spent 28 years working for WinCo Foods, retiring in 2008. She moved to Las Vegas in 2012. Over the past ten years she hosted in her home, travelled with, and visited, an extensive circle of family and friends across the US and in Europe. She enjoyed visiting places new and old, with good food and good company. She was devoted to her family, including the care of her husband of 17 years, Warren. She enjoyed spending time with her son David, trying out new restaurants, and his wife Celeste, tracking down the best spas in the Vegas area. She looked forward to her visits with her grandson, Maceo, who she saw multiple times a year. She was delighted in hearing about the ups and downs (and paybacks) of motherhood from her daughter, Summer, as well as offering her motherly words of wisdom. And she took great pleasure in spending time with her son-in-law, Ryan, and his friends when they came to town on their bi-annual Vegas golf trips. She is survived by her husband Warren Clary, of Las Vegas; son Dave Williams and daughter-in-law Celeste of Las Vegas; daughter Summer Blasquez, son-in-law Ryan and grandson Maceo of Tigard, OR; brother Tony Gandara of Sutter Creek, CA; niece Sonya Castoe, her husband Dave and great-nephew Chet of Jackson, CA. She also held dear her stepchildren: Dwight Clary, his wife Brigitte and their three sons of Lacey, WA; and Marla Clary of Vancouver, WA. Close to her heart were her brother’s two daughters and their families, Emily Williams and Morgan D Armon, both of Jackson, CA. She was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Florinda Gandara, her father Benito, and mother Julia. A memorial service and burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church 115 Court Street Jackson, California 95642 followed by a celebration of life for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, 200 Wilson Circle, Boulder City, Nevada 89005. “Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” -Rumi
