Obituary of Janet Arlene Davis

Janet Arlene Davis, 86 Janet Arlene Davis, died peacefully on Monday, January 14, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Sandy Valley, NV surrounded by three generations of family. Janet was born November 15, 1932, in Stevens, South Dakota, the daughter of Robert (Bob) Lincoln Meyers and Ethel Katherine Erickson. In 1951, Janet married her high school sweetheart, Sterling Mansfield Davis in Bellflower, California. After 16 years they moved their family to their favorite vacation spot in Mohave Valley, AZ. Janet and Sterling started Davis Construction and began a 30 year dynasty of building rock solid homes and businesses. Janet had her realtors license and was the office manager at the company, keeping all the men in line, she also completed cosmetology school and was highly skilled at cutting hair. They enjoyed lazy family days on the Colorado river floatin’ and fishin’ (Janet usually out-fishing the guys). In addition to raising their beloved children, Deb & Dan, she was a master cook in the kitchen, despite dinner not being done until the smoke alarm went off. Janet was well known for her loving and nurturing spirit, but was also full of humor and could be a bit of a rebel; she held the record time for driving to LA (she loved putting the pedal to the metal) and was known to sneak her flask of Baileys into the coffee shop. Janet enjoyed working pit crew at the motorcycle races, where Deb & Dan competed. Her selfless love and care of her family and community through large and small gestures was the essence of who Janet was. She leaves behind a family that loved her with all of their hearts and is survived by her children: Debra Cameron & Dan Davis. Her son-in-law Ken Cameron and soon to be daughter in law Wendy Benson. Her surrogate sister Beverly Reddick. Her grandchildren: Kelly, Kristy, Jodi, Daniel, April and her great-grandchildren: Erika, Sonny, Christina, Felicity, Brianna, Lele, Sadie Jay, Jessica and so many other close relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by the love of her life & husband Sterling and her brothers and sisters: Dixie, Bobby and Mavis. All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her sweet smile, tenacity, charm and undying love and caring for them.
