Obituary of Peter Juan Onedera Maanao, Sr.

Peter Juan Onedera Maanao, Sr., 70 of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born on June 29, 1948 in Oka Tamuning, Guam. He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Tumon, Guam. Peter married Henie on June 2, 1973 in Guam. They were married for 45 years. He faithfully served during the Vietnam War. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his family, barbecuing and group eating. He was an avid pool player. Recognized in the billiards community as Top Team Shooter, he was the Most Valuable Player and ‘the guy that can shoot pool with his foot’, Team Captain and mentor to many. His favorite quote: “I’d rather be lucky than good…sometimes…” He enjoyed watching classic western and war movies & The Filipino Channel (TFC) with his wife, Henie. He loved working on his prized Mustang and attending car shows. He was a member of the National Organization of Chamorro Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans, Southern Nevada 9 Ball Tavern Owners Assoc (SN9BTOA), American Poolplayers Association (APA), and TAP League. He is survived by his Spouse, Henie Maanao; 3 Sons, Peter Maanao Jr (Maryann); Jesse Maanao (Amy); Jarryl Maanao; and only Daughter, Hasmin Maanao Carandang (Peter); 10 Grandchildren, Reynalyn Legaspi (Percyval), Jarryl Andrew Herrera, Inez Maanao, Carena Maanao, Matthew Maanao, Nykolas Maanao, Elizah Maanao, Aedan Onedera Maanao, Pierson Taitasi Maanao Carandang, and Ariah Maanao;   3 Great-grandchildren, Ava Legaspi, Madison Legaspi, Nixon Legaspi; Siblings, Jeannie (Johnie) Ellis, Janet (Frank) Quenga-Chargualaf, Brienda Maanao Diaz, Lucy (Robert) Maanao Barnhart, Doris Maanao Aguon, Josephine Maanao Guevara, Sandra Q. Cruz, and Elaine (Edwin) Cruz, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends; and pets: Max, Daisy, and Bella. He was predeceased by Parents, Jesus and Agueda Maanao; Siblings: Gregorio Onedera Maanao, Dorothea Onedera Maanao, Louisa Maanao Ada; Brothers in law: Joaquin S Quenga Sr, Edwardo A Diaz, Johnny C Guevara; and Granddaughter: Abigail Badilla Lapuz. The Maanao family extends their gratitude and appreciation for the condolences, prayers and support.
