Obituary of Paula Leslie Greene

Paula Leslie Greene, 74, of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018. Paula was born June 4, 1944 in New York, NY. She is the daughter of the late Hyman and the late Selma (Jaffe) Zirin. She worked as a middle school teacher in the Plainedge School District on Long Island, NY for almost four decades, before retiring and moving to Las Vegas. She also taught senior adults blackjack and craps in Long Island. After moving to Las Vegas, Paula couldn't stop teaching and began teaching future teachers by teaching a class in Teaching Methods at UNLV and Nova Southeastern University. Paula wrote a book about her career as an educator entitled, "Pencils Down". She loved reading and going to movies, and was a member of Na' Amat and the Jewish Community Center. A generous spirit with a huge heart, Paula could often be seen buying small gifts which she would leave for servers at her favoirite casinos. Paula is survivied by her husband David Greene, sister Heddy Zirin, nephews Julian and Alexander Helisek and numerous cousins. Her services will be private. Contributions in Paula's memory are requested to an organization which supports breast cancer research. .
