Obituary of Sembukuttiarchige "Virhan" James Silva

Virhan James Silva July 25, 1952 – October 5, 2018 Virhan James Silva, 66 years old, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on July 25, 1952 in Colombo, Sri Lanka to Stanley and Lillian (Alwis) Silva. He had six siblings, Rex Silva, Swarna Jayamaha, Mahinda Silva, Ananda Silva, Jecintha Jayasinghe, and Canina Karurathne. Virhan was a retired Merchant Marine in Sri Lanka and the business owner of Jamez Smokes & Cigars in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed creating bird houses and ships from scratch based on his memory of his life spent traveling on ships. He loved listening to music, especially Jim Reeves. He really enjoyed spending time with anyone willing to listen to the interesting stories of his life experiences. Virhan attended St Joseph's College in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Suritha (Punchihewa) Silva whom he married on January 26, 1980 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Virhan is also survived by his two daughters and sons in law, Sonali Silva, Angelo Maurice, Vinushi Senanayake, Dushan Senanayake; his son and daughter in law, Dulanga and Tracey Silva; his grandchildren, Rishaine James Senanayake, James Alexander Maurice, Aria Rose Silva. Services will be held on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with a visitation and prayers beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Silva Residence.
