Obituary of Elliott Ralph Shapiro

Elliott Shapiro Dec 9, 1928 - Jan 6, 2018 Marcia (Greenberg) Shapiro died on July 30, 2018 at the age of 85. Sadly, this occurred just short of 7 months after her husband Elliott Shapiro, born December 9, 1928, passed away on January 6, 2018 at the age of 89. The couple moved to Las Vegas from Franklin Square, NY, in 1987 when Elliott retired from the New York City Housing Authority after 27 years of service. Elliott also drove part-time for a taxi service in Lynbrook. Marcia was a full-time homemaker. Elliott, the son of Frank Shapiro and Doris Schwartz, grew up in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Marcia, the daughter of Paul Greenberg and Sarah Fishler, grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The couple met while on vacation at Green Mansions in Warrensburg, NY. They were married on April 7, 1957 and were together for 60 years. The couple is survived by their children Martin, Fran, and Joel. Elliott did not have siblings. His closest living relative is his cousin Irene Aronson. Marcia's brother Sherman Greenberg and sister-in-law Coral preceded her in death. Her closest living relative is her cousin Judy Kennedy (Greenberg). The couple has other surviving cousins, nephews, and great nephews and nieces mostly through the Greenberg side of the family A celebration of their lives was held at the Pacifica Senior Living community in Las Vegas where the couple resided for their final 8 years together. They also leave behind the many loving staff members who cared for them over those years.
