Obituary of Marilyn Joan Ettinger

Marilyn Joan Ettinger, 77, passed away on August 3rd 2018 in Las Vegas, NV. She is survived by her loving husband Leonard Ettinger, sharing 60 happy years of marriage together. As well as her children: Michael, Judith, and Steven and grandchildren: Jonah, Brynn, Katie and Zachary. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of George and Zelda Greenwald. She was the oldest of three children, loving sister to siblings Paula Kraus and Joseph Greenwald, as well as sister in-law to Phyllis and husband Alex Cossin. She was close to many of her cousins and often spoke fondly about her English family and heritage, which she was proud of. Marilyn graduated second in her class and was a very smart, witty and independent woman. A stay at home Mom until her youngest, Judy was 13, and she decided to go back to school for her Nursing degree and worked as a nurse for 35 years until her retirement in 2006. Truly the eternal learner and artist, she then mastered the art of quilting and quickly began winning awards at quilting shows. She taught and shared her craft with her quilting friends, with whom she developed deep long lasting friendships, that were near and dear to her heart. She traveled to quilting shows, organized community quilting events, and pioneered projects to donate blankets and other items to hospitals and shelters in need. She was very social and enjoyed hosting dinner parties at home with friends and family. She was an animal lover, and cherished her cat Mittens. An avid traveler, she explored the world with family and best friends, Helene and Robert Pepe. A truly amazing woman, Marilyn had a huge heart and is best known for her kindness and generosity, always taking care of everyone above herself. We already miss her more than words can say. The funeral will be held at 8:00 am on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. .
