Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of George and Zelda Greenwald. She was the oldest of three children, loving sister to siblings Paula Kraus and Joseph Greenwald, as well as sister in-law to Phyllis and husband Alex Cossin. She traveled to quilting shows, organized community quilting events, and pioneered projects to donate blankets and other items to hospitals and shelters in need.

She was very social and enjoyed hosting dinner parties at home with friends and family. She was an animal lover, and cherished her cat Mittens. An avid traveler, she explored the world with family and best friends, Helene and Robert Pepe.

A truly amazing woman, Marilyn had a huge heart and is best known for her kindness and generosity, always taking care of everyone above herself. We already miss her more than words can say.
