Obituary of Stephen F. Biros

Stephen Francis (Steve) Biros, Jr., 77, of Las Vegas Nevada, passed away on July 18, 2018 in the Nathan Adelson Mountainview Hospice Facility in Las Vegas. Steve was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Stephen Francis Biros, Sr. and Mary Teresa Biros (Beno). He went to Benedictine High School in Cleveland and graduated in June 1959. Shortly after graduation, he and his family relocated to Long Beach, California where he attended Long Beach City College for a year before getting a job in the food/restaurant industry as a cook. In 1964, Steve was drafted into the Army. At the end of basic training he was released to the California National Guard as a cook. He was honorably discharged in February 1970 as a Sergeant (E-5). From the1960s until he retired in 2013, Steve continually worked in the restaurant business in a variety of positions. In 1986, Steve lost part of his left leg below the knee to amputation as the result of an infected injury. He lost the rest of the left leg, completely to the hip in 1994 as a result of a rare blood disorder. Steve never let the amputations slow him down. In 1999, he was hit with a right leg issue related to insufficient blood flow. Despite a valiant effort by his doctors to save his leg, they were forced to amputate his right leg below the knee. Steve was able to overcome these problems and lived a completely independent lifestyle. Steve loved Lionel trains, basketball, guitars, blues music and friendly conversations at his favorite bars. His charisma, storytelling ability, and all around good humor often placed him at the center of attention as his spirit inspired others to look past their own infirmities and focus on the positive. He was a loyal Cleveland Cavaliers and Browns fan. Steve is survived by his sister Nancy Lord, her husband Robert and nephew Joshua Lord. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services of Las Vegas is handling funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Nation Adelson Hospice, https://www.nah.org/get-involved/make-a-donation/online-donations. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the University Medical Center Hospital, Complex Care Hospital, and Nathan Adelson Hospice for the care they provided to Steve.
