Obituary of Bridget Melwak

Obituary for Bridget Melwak

Bridget Melwak (Nona B) age 95 passed away and joined God peacefully at home with her beloved family and cherished pets at her side on July 18, 2018. She was a resident of Las Vegas for 18 years but lived most of her life in Chicago, Illinois. She nurtured her family while working full time as an Administrative Assistant in various industries. Her typing and shorthand skills were unrivaled. She was expert at negotiating city bus and subway lines and taught us all how to navigate, discover and be safe in the big city.

She will be forever treasured as a caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She adored spending time with her family and her close friends from the "old neighborhood". She was active in the local Catholic Church activities including weekly Bingo games! She used to go ballroom dancing at the famous dance halls in Chicago and glided across the floor with the best of them. She prepared many Italian lunches for Chicago Bear games and enjoyed listening to the Rat Pack singers. More recently she loved Disneyland trips with her great grandchildren. (The Little Mermaid ride, the music of Disney and the balcony of the hotel overlooking the park and its lights were her favorites) She was tiny but mighty and her memory will live on forever with us all.

She is survived by son John and wife Marianne, daughter Mary Alice, grandson John Jr and wife Erin, granddaughter Erica and husband Emmanuel, and great grandchildren Luca, Nikolette, and Bianca.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of many years Alfred John, beloved younger sister Elsie Schaller, and much loved little brother Pat Gallo.
