Obituary of Elmer Maurice Bennett

Elmer "Ben" Bennett, 92, went to be with loved ones past on November 21st, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He joined the army in 1941 and married Jean Louise Million in 1942. He served in the army for four years working as an airplane mechanic. Ben earned a Soldier's Medal when he saved lives and equipment by putting out a fire that had ignited on one of his airplanes. When he returned from the war, the couple was blessed with their daughter, Johnny Lee, in 1946. The family moved from their home in Carterville, Missouri to Hollywood, California so Jean could pursue a music career. They eventually divorced, but remained close friends. In 1973, Ben married his beloved Polly. The two settled in Las Vegas, Nevada and remained devoted to their family, fished, and played extraordinary amounts of golf. Ben is survived by his daughter Johnny Lee Arrowood of Carterville, Missouri; granddaughter Daisy Rain Martin and husband Sean of Nampa, Idaho; grandson Jim Arrowood and wife, Keri; great grandson, Geoff Siler of Moscow, Idaho; great grandchildren Amanda, Jacob, Christopher, Micah, and Elijah Arrowood of Carterville, Missouri; great granddaughters Alyssa and Heather Roeder of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother William Bennett and wife Rowena of Tubac, Arizona; cousin Marie Glass of Aliso Viejo, California and her children: Cathy Frost and husband Royd of Costa Mesa, California, Mary Spitz and husband Erwin of Laguna Hills, California, Nancy Ramshaw and husband Bruce of Yorba Linda, California, Diane Riddle of Aliso Viejo, California, and John Glass of Laguna Niguel, California; stepson Gerald Schumann and wife Maryann of Troy, Michigan and their children: Gisela Schumann of Lexington, Kentucky, Michael Schumann of Durango, Colorado, Christian Schumann of Paw Paw, Michigan, and Matthew Schumann of Troy, Michigan; and his first wife and friend, Jean Bennett, her daughter Alicia and grandson Josh.
