Obituary of James "Jamie" Lewis Ethington

James (Jamie) Lewis Ethington, III, passed away at the age of 44 on May 11, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada after a short illness. He was born on May 24, 1972, to James (Jim) and Olivia Ethington in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He attended Forest K. White elementary school in Lake Charles from kindergarten through part of second grade, when his family relocated to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia in 1979. Jamie attended the Najmah School in Ras Tanura from second to ninth grade. He graduated from Tabor Academy, a college preparatory school, in Marion, Massachusetts in 1990. He graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, in 1995 with a BSBA in Health Care Management. He worked as a health care administrator at the Visalia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Visalia, California, for 10 years. He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, with his family in 2010 and was most recently the manager of two Cold Stone Creamery stores and three Port of Subs stores. Jamie married Amanda Kathleen De Moss, June 8, 1996 in Dinuba, California. Two children were born of this union, James Lewis Ethington, IV and Adrienne Morgan Ethington. Jamie enjoyed reading books, particularly Tom Clancy, Ken Follet, and John Sanford. He delighted in playing Guitar Hero, Pokémon Go, Trivial Pursuit, and cribbage. He also liked fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks (Missouri), and going to concerts. Some of his favorite bands included Rush, Muse, and Green Day. He played Fantasy Football and enjoyed watching football, especially the Carolina Panthers. Jamie is survived by his wife Amanda Kathleen De Moss and children James Lewis Ethington, IV and Adrienne Morgan Ethington. He is also survived by his step-children Michael Lee Hood, Vincent Scott Hood, Casey Fay Hooks, and grandchildren Lilith Hood, Cash Hernandez, Anastasia Hood, and Elias Hernandez. Jamie is also survived by his parents James (Jim) and Olivia Ethington, sister Tabitha Bagheri and brother-in-law Homan, sister Lanaya Ethington and brother-in-law Kevin Olszewski, nephew Kian Bagheri, and nieces Imogen, Agatha, and Elliot Olszewski. Jamie was like a son and brother to the British family who were the Ethingtons' first next-door neighbors in Saudi Arabia. His absence is keenly felt by Mike and Marilyn Hughes, Alison Hughes-Waters, Dave and Grace Waters, Sharyn Hughes-Ward, and Matthew Ward. Jamie was loved by family and friends all around the world as shown by the numerous responses to his illness and death. Words people have used to reflect on Jamie's impact on their lives include: kind, laid-back, fun, mischievous, important, sociable, a kindred spirit, a good man, a wonderful friend, a boss who inspired…and someone with a great sense of humor and "that" smile. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. "The treasure of a life is a measure of love and respect. The way you live, the gifts that you give. And the fullness of time is the only return that you expect." Rush, The Garden
