Obituary of Gilbert B. Yarchever

Gilbert B. Yarchever, age 91, of Las Vegas passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010. Gilbert was born December 16, 1918 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph and the late Della (Kurfreerst) Yarchever. Gilbert served in the Navy during World War II, earning a Ruptured Duck, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was awarded the Civilian Meritorious Award from the US Government. Gilbert was an Administrative Law Judge and enjoyed a number of hobbies including antiquing, art, fashion and travel. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Edythe Katz Yarchever; children Aaron (Karen) Ben David of Auburn CA, Cantor Regina (Matthew) Heit of Denver CO; Barry Katz of Las Vegas and Jeff Katz of Los Angeles; grandchildren David Heit of Denver and Shachar Ben David of Alameda CA. He is predeceased by his wife, Marion Yarchever. Donations in Gilbert's memory may be made to Congregation Ner Tamid, the Sperling Holocaust Library or UNLV all in Las Vegas NV or Temple Emanuel in Denver CO. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 24 at 2:30 PM at Congregation Ner Tamid, 55 N Valle Verde Dr., Henderson NV. A Graveside Service will be at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 25 at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 W. Centinela Ave., Los Angeles CA.
