Bernice Hausner, 83 of Las Vegas died January 15, 2022. She was born in the Bronx New York on March 25th, 1938 to Sylvia and Jack Baumwoll. She was the eldest of two sisters and one brother. She was a retired executive from AT&T who moved to Las Vegas from New Jersey with her husband Jack Hausner in 1993. Bernice enjoyed her family and touched so many people's lives in loving and meaningful ways. She enjoyed puzzles and reading, and after Jack's death she started a seniors program at the Durango YMCA where she met so many new friends in the community. The seniors program at the Y had grown to help numerous people with social activities, trips, meals and other activities. She always provided endless love and support to family, friends, neighbors and members of the community. Those who knew her best know how she loved life, and how she'd want us to celebrate how she lived her life - to the fullest each and every day. Bernice is survived by her: Eldest son and daughter in law: Gary and Fran Cherkis; Grandchildren: Steven (and his wife Jaimie), Danielle, and Robert Cherkis; Great-grandchildren: (children of Steven and Jaimie) Jack and Vanessa Cherkis; Youngest son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Janice Cherkis grandchild: Breanna Cherkis; Sister: Pauline Sherman; Sister and brother-in-law: Martha and Blaine Tallman; Brother and sister-in-law: Walter and Karen Baumwoll; other family members; cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews and countless numbers of friends who were like family to her. Services will be held at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive on April 1st, at 8:40am.
