Betty Joan Raab

Betty Joan "Jo" Raab passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in Boulder City, Nevada following her courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

She is survived by partner, Ken Dolbee; her sons, Jamie Raab and Jack Raab; and her grandchildren, Michael Raab, Michelle Johnson and Melissa Bonds.

Her son, Jon, preceded her in death May 31, 1985.

Born on January 12, 1933, in Indianapolis, Jo's career in healthcare spanned over fifty years. She graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing with her BSN, and earned her Master's from the University of Redlands. Her contributions to healthcare as a nurse, a healthcare administrator, and a director of the state department of health are vast, from providing patient care to developing and teaching IV therapy at various institutions to ensuring the health and well-being of patients in both Indiana and California. Her dedication to the wellbeing of others is marked by her generosity of spirit, her warm humor, and the kindness she extended to everyone she encountered.

Jo was an avid reader, and romance novels in particular were her favorite form of escape from her high-stress occupation. She enjoyed collecting antiques and spent her weekends searching for unique items at local yard sales with her partner, Ken, and her sons. She enjoyed gambling at the local casinos and loved meeting up with her and her partner's circle of friends for brunch at the Emerald Casino. Jo traveled abroad extensively and often fondly recollected the time she spent immersed in different cultures. She loved her dogs and was known to feed them delicious scraps from the table despite warnings from her partner. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Kraft-Sussman Funeral Home, 3975 S Durango Dr. Ste 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147.

In lieu of flowers, the family humbly petitions that donations be made to her tribute page at the Alzheimer's Association, the details of which can be found at the following:
