Marlys Yvonne “Brownie” Wyrick passed from this world on August 18, 2020 at the age of 84. She was an Air Force wife and a longtime resident of Las Vegas. Brownie retired from Harrah’s Casinos where she worked various jobs in the casino cage throughout the 70’s and 80’s. She was a great mother and kept the family strong through multiple deployments to Vietnam and long military separations. She was best known for her love of family, friends, and cats. She loved sports and was an ardent fan of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and NASCAR. She was renowned for her skill at cooking and cribbage. She will always be remembered for her big heart and love of life.
Brownie Wyrick was born in Anoka County Minnesota on April 2, 1936, to Thomas and Essie Ruth Broadbent, and she graduated from St. Francis High School in St. Francis, Minnesota. She is preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, Vernon Arthur Broadbent, who was killed in action during the liberation of the Philippines in World War II. She is survived by her sister and brother in law, Myrtice and James Degenstein of Kingman, Arizona. Her three sons; Jake Wyrick and his wife Donna of Las Vegas, Nevada; Brigadier General Brett Wyrick, USAF and his wife Maryam of Alexandria, Virginia; Chief Master Sergeant Clint Wyrick, USAF (Ret) and his wife Nola of Las Vegas Nevada; her former husband Lt. Col. Donald M. Wyrick, USAF (Ret) of Sun City Center, Florida.
Marlys was grandmother to Jason, Kai and Staci, Kawika, Jonathan, Jeremy and Marissa, Joshua and Natalie, Robert Shaun and Jennifer, Jamie, Christopher, Sarina, and Aaron Hawk. She was great grandmother to Krysun, Joshua Jr., Lily, Chloe, Chaz, Cooper, Sutton, and Jax.
