June Kathleen Friedlander (nee Hewitt), known as Sal, died at the age of 87 on March 15, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sal was born in in Bournemouth, England on May 1, 1931. She and her two brothers, Phillip and Kenneth, grew up during WWII. They were separated from their parents and each other, as most children were, and evacuated from the cities subject to the Blitz. Sal worked from age 12 until she married Morton Friedlander on January 19, 1955. In the first 20 years of marriage while Morton was on active duty in the Air Force, they lived in Germany, France, Portugal, New Zealand, Japan, Virginia, Maryland, Illinois, and California. During that time, Sal had four children. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother and matriarch throughout. Sal is survived by her husband Morton after 64 years of marriage, her daughters Tina, age 62, and Lisa, age 60; her sons Frank, age 58, and Eric, age 52. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of lifetime friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Sal will be buried at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada at 10:40 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. A luncheon will follow the internment.
