Working with funeral homes in Las Vegas, NV means that you have likely lost a loved one. Either that or you are trying to plan your own final services in advance. For either situation, you have two basic options: cremation or a traditional burial. It’s good for you to know that both are completely honorable, respectful disposition methods. You really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. But funeral homes are seeing more people use cremation for some of these reasons:

Reason 1: To Save Money

This is one of the biggest reasons people use for choosing cremation over a traditional burial. Cremation is always going to cost less. Since it uses far fewer products and services, it only makes sense that it will cost less. There’s no need for a cemetery plot, a casket, a headstone, and other such items. If budget is a concern, you can certainly save money by utilizing cremation for the final disposition method.

Reason 2: To Save Time

While burial usually takes place within a few days after death, cremation can happen faster. Perhaps you want your loved one cared for right away or you want the ashes to be returned to the family for a service sooner. Whatever the case may be, going with direct cremation can save you time during the planning process and for the ceremony to be completed.

Reason 3: To Give More Service Options

Traditional burials generally follow funerals and there aren’t a ton of options that go along with those. There are certain traditions to follow and that’s that. Cremation comes with a lot more options. Families can have a full funeral first, then cremation. Or, they can have cremation followed by a memorial service that feels like a funeral. They could also choose to have a celebration of life. And there are even some that skip all services and simply scatter the ashes in memory of their loved one.

Reason 4: To Vary The Final Resting Place

Traditional burials mean a cemetery plot and burial and that’s the only option. Cremation brings a lot of other options to the table. Burial is still possible, or the person can be scattered in a number of locations. They could also be interred in a columbarium or, family members could keep them in an urn at home. There are many other options to consider as well and if burial isn’t right, cremation will bring the right final resting place to mind.

If you are working with funeral homes in Las Vegas, NV, the final disposition method you choose is completely up to you. These are some of the reasons why people sometimes lean toward cremation. If you see these as fitting reasons for your family and situation, you could use them as well. Or, go with traditional burial and stick to the traditions and ceremonies that you are most comfortable with. Whatever you want, Kraft-Sussman Funeral & Cremation Services is here to help you through it all
