When a co-worker or friend is hosting a traditional funeral at funeral homes in Las Vegas, NV for a loved one who passed away, you may want to attend to show your support. Showing up at the service will say a lot. But you want to fit in and not stand out too much in what you wear. This service is about the person who passed away and, by extension, their family members. Here are some considerate tips to follow in how you dress.

Keep It Simple

Funeral attire used to be rather formal, but things have relaxed in recent years. You definitely don’t want to feel way under dressed or way over dressed or you will stand out. The traditions today include a suit, or perhaps a nice shirt and tie for men. For women, a dress, a skirt and blouse, or a business pantsuit. If you would wear it to church or a business meeting, it will probably work at a funeral as well. You can’t go wrong with these simple choices without too much color or patterns to them.

Go With Darker Colors

IT used to be that people were expected to wear black to funerals, but that is no longer the case. While black is still acceptable and is the traditional color to wear, you can also wear other darker colored clothing. Consider navy blue, a darker brown, gray, or even a dark mauve. Something dark is nice because bright colors can be too distracting to the family members.

Wear Smart Shoes

Traditional services generally include going to the cemetery for a burial portion of the service. In those cases, especially, you will want to wear sensible shoes. The shoes should not have large spike heels and they should not be sandals. That can hinder you when you are traipsing across the grass in a cemetery. Plus, having shoes that cover your feet is best for respect reasons as well.

Accessorize In Classic Ways

You don’t want to overdo what you’ve done with an understated outfit with accessories. You can wear a bracelet, earrings, or a necklace, but don’t wear something large, bright, or gaudy. Use classic jewelry and pieces that look good with lots of different things to make the outfit look nice without standing out too much.

Whenever you visit funeral homes in Las Vegas, NV, you’re going to think more about what you are going to wear than perhaps you would at other times. The professionals at Kraft-Sussman Funeral & Cremation Services can certainly give you more tips on what you might want to wear and what you should avoid. We see lots of funerals and even memorial services and we are able to give you ideas and options that would fit in without standing out in the wrong ways.
