Obituary of Phillip Wayne Motes

Tech Sergeant (Ret. USAF) Phillip Wayne "Phil" Motes went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 29, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV, after being diagnosed with stomach cancer in April. He was born in Concord NC and a resident of Nevada for the past 27 years. He was the first born child of Albert Ezra Motes and Nancy Baity Motes from Collinsville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Nancy L. Wingfield of Collinsville, VA. Phillip was a member of Lighthouse Church and loved his family and friends. He graduated from Heritage College as valedictorian of the travel agent program in 1995. His hobbies included karate, cooking, the Linux group at MIT, the Las Vegas PC Linux group, duplicate bridge, pinochle and making quilts for the children's ward at University Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Mae W. Motes; Mother Nancy Motes of Collinsville, VA; two sisters Teresa M. Gregory of Ridgeway, VA and Melinda M. White of Collinsville, VA; Three brothers James A. Motes of Big Stone Gap, VA, John L. Motes of Axton, VA and Christopher M. Motes of Fayetteville, NC. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors and all that knew him. The family wishes to thank those who shared their concern, time and efforts to assist and befriend Phil during his life and especially during his last days. A funeral service will be at 10:40 AM on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.
